Envisage Support Students at Chelsea College of Arts

Envisage’s Colour, Material & Finish (CMF) team were invited to run a materials workshop at Chelsea College of Arts with students on the Graduate Diploma in Textile Design. The workshop supported a brief set bt Ma-tt-er, entitled Material Ecosystems.
The workshop began with a presentation which introduced the CMF team. The team exhibited some physical materials from their materials library, which included Coffee Polymer, Nuatan Bioplastic and Alcantara microfibre. The team also discussed the creative processes they undertake and demonstrated some of the past projects which they have completed.
The students explored material systems where they considered the composition and creative process, whilst using their senses to evaluate each one. The evaluation process looked at the sustainability of the material, how it could be improved and the various uses for each one. The students final task was to identifying how each material could assist in the development of their own projects, which they then presented and gained valuable feedback.
