1958 Austin Healey 100-6 Restoration

Envisage completed the full restoration of a 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6, mechanically and chassis & body.

The Challenge

Sourced from America, this left-hand drive 100-6 underwent a complete restoration, mechanically and chassis & body. Produced from 1956-59, the 100-6 is a two-seat roadster with sleeker lines and a smaller front grill compared to the Austin-Healey 100.

Our Approach

Restoring the Engine

Following the disassembly of the vehicle, the engine was refurbished and restored. This was done using the original engine, with the replacement of the thermostat and gasket. After cleaning the parts and removing the old paint, it was repainted in metallic green, giving the engine a like-new, clean finish.

Body Restoration

Our skilled metal formers used a range of traditional techniques to carry out the restoration. This included the use of the English wheel, hammer forming and welding. The car was restored utilising the original shrouds, boot and bonnet, and door inners, accompanied by new fenders that were made by hand.

Once the repairs and reconstruction were complete, it was metal finished, with the body left as raw aluminium. Doing this truly highlights the skill and artistry of our metal-formers.

Interior Trim

To complete the restoration, our CMF team carefully selected blue as the key colour for the interior and trim. The seats were trimmed with a blue leather hide, complementing the raw aluminium exterior.

Conclusion

This project showcased our in-house skills and craftsmanship and has been utilised for promotion at events including Essen Auto-Classica. It is now on display at the Hotel Indigo Coventry.
