7X Lamborghini Rayo

Envisage were contacted by 7X Design to collaborate on the development of an aerodynamic body for the Lamborghini Rayo.

Overview

Envisage were contacted by 7X Design to collaborate on the development of an aerodynamic body for the Lamborghini Rayo. 7X Design’s desire is to have the fastest coach-built supercar breaking the record of 300mph.

Approach

We collaborated with 7X Design throughout the process, providing engineering on the 3D designs from 7X Design after hand-scanning the base vehicle to produce a full 3D model. The team then set to work engineering each individual panel, manufacturing the carbon fibre components, and assembling the vehicle to match the design to sub-millimetre accuracy, and the integrity needed for high speed. Before the final build, the advanced paint technologies division painted all components in Sport Orange.

Envisage has offered support throughout the hyper car’s journey. After delivering the finished vehicle, the teams continued to work closely together, be it launching the car at Hampton Court, testing in the wind tunnel at Elvington Airfield, or showcasing at Supercar Fest. The next goal is to hit 300 mph.

The customer has already come close at IDIADA in Spain where Rayo reached 278mph. Once the hyper car meets that key milestone, Envisage will have been instrumental in creating what 7X Design believes to be the world’s fastest coach-built vehicle.

Conclusion

The Rayo is a remarkable vehicle and we’re very proud to have played such a key role in its creation. Our relationship with 7X Design goes from strength to strength and we relish every challenge. We will continue working with 7X Design until the car has achieved the 300mph record for a coach-built supercar.
