What is Cyber Essentials Plus?

Mandated by the UK Government, the certification proves business have successfully implemented 5 core cyber security controls. The independent auditor assesses: secure internet connection and configuration of gateways to block unauthorised access, devices are secure with configurations, unique passwords, and multi-factor authentication, access is restricted so employees only have access to the data and software required for their roles, protection against malware, and that all software is up to date.

Cyber Essentials vs Cyber Essentials Plus

After achieving Cyber Essentials in June 2026, the natural next step was to raise the bar and pursue Cyber Essentials+. While Cyber Essentials is an online questionnaire reviewed by an external body and proves we have declared proper security measures, Cyber Essentials Plus requires an independent technical verification. This involved vulnerability scans of IP addresses and testing a sample of real devices within the company, testing the systems to confirm the controls in place work in practice. Ultimately, Cyber Essentials Plus provides the independent trust and technical validation that our defenses deliver in practice.
